ECHO hosting week-long course on agriculture development

N FT MYERS, Fla. - May 15, 2024 - PRLog -- ECHO, a leading advocate for sustainable agriculture and food security, will be hosting a week-long course on sustainable farming this summer at its North American Regional Impact Center. The course, Introduction to Tropical Agriculture Development, will take place from Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 12.

Workers, missionaries and volunteers interested in preparing for short to long-term involvement in international agriculture development are encouraged to participate. Topics and discussions will focus on improved food security and agricultural livelihoods for small-scale farmers in developing countries. Participants will be introduced to the complexities related to poverty and community development.

The course will cover a broad range of topics relevant to those starting in agricultural development in a tropical environment. The purpose is to expose attendees to several different ideas and concepts.

During the week, activities will include presentations, farm-based practicums, consultations with ECHO staff and opportunities for research in the ECHO Resource Library.

ECHO's North American Regional Impact Center is located at 17391 Durrance Road, North Fort Myers, Florida 33917.

Registration costs are all inclusive and include lodging at the ECHO campus, three meals per day and the week-long course fee. Registration is $750 and closes June 30.
